Storybook Theatre

Study Guides: Amelia Bedelia, City Mouse K-2, City Mouse 3-5, Napping House

Fastpaced and interactive, the Storybook Theatre is dedicated to getting children excited about reading.  Unique because they use theatre arts to creatively enhance performances, Storybook Theatre performers use costumes, props, exaggerated voices, and lots of interaction with the audience.

The Napping House
This story by Audrey Wood is a great tool for teaching math concepts and a variety of other educational skills.  Young students are captivated by an amazing session filled with exaggerated voices, music, dance and interaction with the audicence.

Grades: Pre-K – 2
Audience limit: 200 students

Country Mouse, City Mouse
Storybook Theatre recreates an old favorite and brings it to the stage.  Journey with Cousin Elli and Cousin Ida Mae between the country life and the city life.  Experience the exciting differences they find in each other.

The primary goal is to encourage children to understand those differences and realize one is not better than the other, “they’re just different!”

Grades: Pre-K – 4
Audience limit: 250 students

The Original Amelia Bedelia Story
Tried and true, a side-splitting, humorous program depicting housekeeper, Amelia Bedelia as she does her chores literally.  The students interact with Amelia on stage while trying to teacher her the true meaning of various idioms (a word or phrase that has more than one meaning.)  Everyone will enjoy and learn from this performance, so make sure your staff drops in to participate!

It’s All About Math
Math can be fun when you add a touch of adventure! This is the fastest moving game show in schools this year. Students use teamwork to answer math word problems from Paul Epner’s Herbert Hilligan’s Prehistoric Adventure.  A story written in rhyme with the hysterical Professor “Ought To Know”, a witty game show host and a room full of eager math whizzes . . . the fun never stops.

Grades: 3 - 5
Audience limit: 250 students
