TCA Touring Artist

Fast paced and interactive, Storybook Theatre is dedicated to getting students excited about reading! Unique in their ability to use theatre arts to creatively enhance performances, Storybook Theatre uses costumes, props, exaggerated voices, and audience participation to bring stories to life. Teachers can choose from the following performances:

“The Napping House”                                                              Grades: PreK-2

This story written by Audrey Wood is a great tool for teaching math concepts and a variety of other educational skills. Young students are captivated when Storybook Theatre brings the story to life using exaggerated voices, music, dance, and interaction with the audience.

“Country Mouse, City Mouse”                                         Grades: PreK-4

Storybook Theatre recreates an old favorite and brings it to the stage.  Journey with Cousin Ellie and Cousin Ida Mae as they travel between country life and city life. Experience the exciting events as they realize that it is the differences in all of us that make us unique and special. As Cousin Ellie would say, “Life would be a might boring if we were all the same!”

“Amelia Bedelia”                                                            Grades: 2-5

In this classic story by Peggy Parish, housekeeper Amelia Bedelia keeps students laughing as she attempts to do her all her chores literally. Students interact with Amelia on stage as they try to teach her the true meaning of various idioms (a phrase that has more than one meaning).

“It’s All About Math”                            Grades: 3-5

Math is the star when your students play this fast moving “game show” based on Paul Epner’s book Herbert Hilligan’s Sea World Adventure. Audience participation is at an all-time high as students use teamwork to solve math word problems.
