Join Second Generation Dance Company as they explore the ancient myths of deepest Africa. Visit with Anansi and the Turtle, gaze upon the Flying Africans, discover what lessons the Tortoise taught the Eagle, and find out why the Cheetah’s cheeks are stained. Learn the answers to these and other questions from African folklore and fairytales. This performance is filled with many humorous characters, but don’t forget your thinking cap – you might just learn a lesson or two!

“Black Pearls”

“Black Pearls”, the story of strong African women from ancient times to modern day reflected through dance, reminds us all that we can reach for the stars and succeed. From Queen Nzinga in her role as the liberator of Angola, to Harriet Tubman – nurse, spy for the Union Army, leader in the Underground Railroad – to memories of Grandma, this performance will inform and inspire.
