| SCHEDULING A PROGRAM AND RESIDENCIES Scheduling as early as possible for the entire school year is recommended. To schedule a Young Audiences program, contact us:
Mail: Young Audiences, 200 East Amherst, Tyler, TX 75701 Telephone: (903) 561-2787
Please be prepared to give us the following information when scheduling (for scheduling worksheet, see p. 5): · The programs that interest you · Preferred program dates, as well as alternate dates · Preferred program times · The grade levels and size of audience · Funding source for programs · The name and contact information for one person who will be responsible for all aspects of the booking
Availability of Artists Our artists are either local, from within the state of Texas, or are national touring artists. Sometimes we can schedule artists on the exact dates you request, but in other cases the artists are only available in our area for limited times during the year. When scheduling, we will advise you of the artists’ availability and will do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs.
TCA Artists
The TCA logo included in an artists’ listing indicates that the artist is on the touring roster for the Texas Commission on the Arts. Having undergone a rigorous screening process, these entertainer-educators represent the best in Texas artistry. For more information about the Texas Commission on the Arts, go to www.arts.state.tx.us.
Payment and Policies Once your program is scheduled, you will receive a confirmation invoice. Payment is expected immediately following a performance or residency. Please make checks payable to Young Audiences of Northeast Texas and mail to our office at the address above. Our artists are not authorized to accept any payments.
• Should an artist be prevented from performing due to illness, weather, etc., schools may reschedule, substitute, or receive full credit. • Confirmed programs cancelled by the school with less than one week’s notice will be billed at the full price due to YA’s commitment to the artist, unless the program can be rescheduled. Classroom Management Please note that Young Audiences’ policy mandates that the classroom teacher is to be present during the entire program or residency. Should the teacher leave, the artist is instructed to leave also. The teacher is responsible for managing classroom behavior during the program or residency. Performance Evaluation Forms Young Audiences strives to bring performers to your school who will enhance your teaching and expand the experiences of your students. To help us meet that goal, we distribute evaluation forms to our school contacts after each performance. The evaluation form is also available for download on our website at www.yanetexas.org. Please take a few moments to complete this form and return it to us. Teacher evaluation forms received by the YA offices will be entered into an annual drawing for a free program selected by YA for the winning teacher’s class during the following school year. Return a completed evaluation form to us after your school’s performance for a chance to win! Study Guides
The Study Guide is designed to maximize the connection of the YA program with your curriculum. In the study guide, teachers will find information about the performance and artist, as well as suggestions for pre- and post-performance activities which can be used to reinforce learning in the classroom. We encourage teachers to utilize this resource for classroom extensions to enhance the learning experience and integrate the arts into the classroom. Travel Mileage Costs A travel mileage fee will be charged for programs occurring at outlying school districts/areas. If this fee is applicable to a performance, a travel mileage fee quote will be given at the time of scheduling. Please contact the YA office for more information.
