Young
Audiences, Inc., founded in 1952,
was the first organization ever
to receive the prestigious National
Medal of Arts. Awarded in 1994,
the White House recognized Young
Audiences’ achievements
in working with educational systems,
the arts community and the public
and private sectors to ensure
the Arts play a decisive role
in the education of young people.
Two of the key
goals that came out of the the
YAI 2009 Strategic Plan are:
- Increase access
to quality arts learning experiences.
- Design, develop and deliver
quality arts learning
experiences that produce outcomes.
In 2009, the YA network of 30
affiliates and 4,600 artists reached
7 million children in nearly 7,000
schools with over 16,000 performance
demonstrations, 67,000 workshops
and 3,240 teacher services.
