ANNOUNCEMENTS |
|
New this
year!
Young Audiences of
Northeast Texas was
one of only eight
national chapters
selected to
participate in a
national research
study this year. The
Arts for Learning
Lessons project was
designed with
learning scientist
Dr. John Bransford
(The Learning
Sciences Group at
the University of
Washington) to
significantly
increase student
literacy. In
2007-2008,
elementary school
teachers from three
Tyler ISD schools in
grades three to five
will use arts-based
instructional
strategies to
enhance students’
reading
comprehension and
writing.
Young Audiences
appreciates the
willingness of the
principals, teachers
and students of
Caldwell Elementary
Arts Academy,
Douglas Elementary,
Jones MST Academy,
and Woods Elementary
to stretch for new
and innovative ways
to improve literacy.
We look forward to
sharing the success
of these
arts-enriched
lessons with our
other school
partners in the near
future. |

“I can’t thank Young Audiences enough for being one of our effective tools that help with academic core instruction.”
George A. Faber TISD Director of Visual and Performing Arts |
It’s a Fact...
The arts enrich the lives of children and lead to increased student success.
Students exposed to the visual, performing, and literary arts have higher developmental growth.
The ability to solve problems, using reasoning and logic, is enhanced with exposure to the arts.
SAT scores are often higher for students involved in the arts.
