“Fun With Numbers” Grades: PreK-2

Master storyteller Evelyn James uses interactive stories and entertaining visuals to introduce number and size relationships, as well as simple geometry. Number games and shape stories set the stage for young students to explore both language skills and math concepts.

“The Power of Math” Grade: 3-5

Master storyteller Evelyn James proves that math can be entertaining using interactive multiplication and geometry tales. Upper elementary students discover Ben Franklin’s Magic Squares and other math puzzles, and manipulate their own tangrams in a retelling of Anne Tombert’s Grandfather Tang and His Story.

“Inventors in the Kitchen” Grades: 3-5

Master storyteller Evelyn James introduces upper elementary students to the inventors who revolutionized the modern diet. Students will learn about the contributions of scientists and inventors Gail Borden, George Washington Carver, and Clarence Birdseye through the stories of their lives and times. Enhanced by a wealth of vintage artifacts and advertising!

“And They Shall Walk” Grades: 3-5

Master storyteller Evelyn James uses her own family’s devastating experience with polio to launch the story of a world gripped by fear of the paralyzing disease. Students will learn about the contributions of nurse Elizabeth Kenny and scientist Jonas Salk through the stories of their lives and times. Enhanced by historical photographs and artifacts!
