Why should
you use the arts in your classroom.?
Americans for the Arts noted "…just
like the tools for good nutrition,
young people should have a daily
serving of the arts to help them
become more well-rounded individuals."
Children learn from a range of
intelligences and learning styles.
The Arts provide different ways
to process cognitive information
and express knowledge. The Arts
teach us to sing and draw, and
how to read, write, and think
creatively in math and science.
The Arts teach us to make connections
between seemingly unrelated topics.
The arts:
- Teach independence and
collaboration;
- Build the skills vital to
tomorrows’ workplace;
- Improve academic performance
and standardized test scores;
- Increase student attendance;
- Decrease school drop-out
rates;
Young Audiences programs have
study guides to connect them to
core curriculum and TEKS standards.
Pre and post program activities,
discussion questions and additional
resources help teachers connect
the program to what is being taught
in the classroom.
