“World Rhythm Synergy” is a high-energy multi-cultural presentation that infuses explosive drumming with a meaningful lecture and group participation. Using percussion instruments from throughout the world, musician Dan Egger-Belandria demonstrates how people of different cultural backgrounds connect through drumming and dance. From Africa to the Caribbean and South, Central, and North America, “World Rhythm Synergy” is a musical field trip that students can envision while learning. Throughout this enthnomusical journey, your students will have an opportunity to explore various African, Afro-Cuban, and Caribbean rhythms and folklore that help explain the connection between African-American history and Hispanic heritage. The program will have them playing, dancing, even rapping!

Classroom Workshop

Percussionist Dan Egger-Belandria offers a unique music-workshop series that supports the fundamentals of early childhood development in a fun, exciting format. Designed as a half-day visit, Dan brings a wealth of experience to each class as a seasoned performance and workshop artist who has opened children’s eyes, ears, and hearts to the beauty of rhythm for more than a decade. Having lived and studied in Latin American cultures, he is also bilingual and trained to accommodate special needs students. Your young students will explore learning concepts through singing, movement, reading, listening, and of course, making music! This program is available in English or Spanish.
