Gourds Galore
(Two-day residency)
How is a gourd grown? What are gourds used for? How do you make a gourd usable for such things as musical instruments? What cultures have made use of gourds? These and many other questions will be answered in this exciting residency with Charlotte Schaefers, gourd artist and education director of the Texas Gourd Society. In the first hour, students learn all about gourds in an assembly. After that, Ms. Schaefers travels to each class for an hour to help students create their own artistic object out of a gourd.

Magnificent Murals
(Three-day residency)
Does your school have a large public wall that is begging to be decorated? Artist and muralist Charlotte Schaefers can lead your class in making that wall a tribute to your class. She will take your students from the initial design to an exciting product on your wall. In the process, students learn graphing, measurement, and the use of murals throughout history. The artist will meet with school personnel prior to residency to discuss subject matter, design, and curriculum needs. Price includes supplies and additional meeting. A great class gift to your school.
